Who is B2BMA Integration Anyway?

Updated: Feb 21, 2021

In version 2 Pardot Connectors, B2BMA Integration is the default "connector user" for Pardot. For many Pardot users, sticking with the standard connector is just fine. It's nice because it does not use up a Salesforce license, nor does it require you to use a named user for the connector, which can be confusing if that same user also is active in Salesforce, prompting questions like:

Did Susan make this update or did Pardot do it in Susan's name?

The B2BMA Connector makes this much cleaner and clearer-- B2BMA is the only user that makes any updates from Pardot. This is also helpful because now you can report on things B2BMA (aka Pardot) did, like task creation or leads created by the integration user.

The only bummer with B2BMA is that since it's a user that's part of a managed package you can't modify it in any way...you can't rename it or add anything to any of the fields on its user profile so it's clearer to your users (especially in the beginning) what it actually is. Except for one thing. You can change the profile photo. So my tip for you today is for you (or your admin) to update B2BMA Integration's profile photo so instead of the default image of Astro, it's clear that it's Pardot. (like in the image at the top of this post) I'll even give you the file I used to make the profile update you see up there. Just right-click the image here and do a save-as and load it into the user profile. That was easy!
