Have you ever tried to reconnect nodes in...oh this is awkward phrasing...an Account Engagement (f/k/a/ Pardot) Engagement Studio program, and ended up with something that looked like fangs and not the rounded endpoints you're used to?
I did this today and ended up with the doozy shown here. Looks like Dracula decided to drop in on my program. What causes this and what to do about it?
The way that Engagement Studio cascades multiple endpoints is in sort of a stair-step pattern, and if you try and reconnect nodes from the top-down, you will get these "fangs".
The thing about this is that once you have these fangs you can't further reduce them because the interface doesn't allow you to add anything ahead of the endpoint. In addition, you can't put anything on the left side branch either, there's no plus-in-a-circle add node either. And if you ask to remove the last end step, you are not allowed because the program cant' figure out where to allow you to reconnect it
Based on these quirks, I'm convinced that this isn't really intended and is more like a bug than a feature. Fortunately, the solution here is easy. The first thing to do is to add back the end nodes you just removed to make the fangs -- you'll have to do that on the left branches since you can't do it on the right.
Once you've restored it to way it looked before, start eliminating end nodes from the last, lowest branch and start reconnecting upward and the branches will take on the familiar shape. Depending on how complicated your program is, this may take some trial and error in the reconnection, but remember you can always add back an end step and try again. Just remember-- avoid the fangs!
